I get to stretch out tonight!

My lovely wife received the assignment of driving across the state to Montrose, CO to visit one of her clients. She left at 5:30 this morning and will return tomorrow. As a result, I get to stretch out on my queen sized bed tonight--oh the blessing!! There must be something wrong with me though--today, I got up at 6:00 to go to the gym and run and will probably do the same tomorrow! Hmmm. . .so much for enjoying the extra room for a long period of time.

Turkey anyone?

Jen and I did our grocery shopping yesterday afternoon at our local grocery store. We saw that Turkeys were on sale so we bought one. Anybody interested in joining us?

Have you ridden the Mexican Train?

With the hopes of finding fun things to do, Jen and I recently purchased some dominos. We have already enjoyed playing Mexican Train for two nights. We have both won once, which is nice!!!

As for the trip. . .

Of course, see the post below this post!

Jen and I had a great time down in Fort Worth. It was quite nice as we got to relax for a few days with her family and friends. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed our time in the warm weather. I wished that we could have had the Jeep with us because we would have taken the top and doors off and enjoyed life that way. I was able to go running one morning, which was quite nice not having to deal with the altitude like normal.

We enjoyed our time and were able to visit the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, see the IMAX show (Coral Reef Adventure), go to the Cowgirl Museum, and go go-karting. Now, I hate to say anything about Jen, but she drove like a Grandma! I lapped her three times! Whenever I passed, I would throw out an appropriate comment like: Hurry up or It's the pedal on the right, or Hurry up, Grandma!!!!

All in all we had a great time! Talk to you later!

Have YOU ever seen a Cattle Drive?

This past weekend, Jen and I went to Fort Worth. Fort Worth is a modern city that still has the stockyards to the north of the city. These stockyards made the city, although they have been downsized tremendously in the last 20 years. On every Visitor's brochure the cattle drive is promoted as a free event that occurs every day at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. Now I was extremely excited about seeing the world-renowned Texas Longhorn's being driven through the streets, so I made sure that Jen agreed to join me on the lawn in a prime viewing area to see this wonderful spectacle of man and beast. I couldn't wait to see the cowboys riding through the streets on their horses at a full gallop prodding these huge cows with horns that are quite impressive, long and dangerous through the streets to the stockyards. I, of course, wanted to get their early, so we arrived at the lawn fifteen minutes early and I placed us at a location where we could easily see up and down the street to see the drive come and go. Just before 4:00, they cleared the street and made everyone stand up (presumably to allow them a chance to dash out of the way before certain injury, dismemberment, or death).

I was breathless with anticipation before the beginning of this dangerous activity. With a smile on my face, I laughed at those that were not behind the fence like my wife and I. Then they came--yeah, all 15 longhorn cattle taken for their afternoon STROLL!!! There was even a bell on the lead cow. I was crushed, I felt betrayed, I didn't know what to do! So, I expressed my disappointment to my sweet and understanding wife, who replied "Well, what did you expect?"

Go VOLS!!!

A #2 seed for basketball?!?!?!? Who would have guessed that? Not me--especially when you're talking about Men's Basketball. Now, of course, I would expect a #2 seed from the women (which they received)--but the MEN!!! Go Coach Pearl, he has really turned this team around and got them to believe in themselves and their abilities!! Now, I will admit that they struggled at the end of the season by losing to South Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, to name a few, but they still swept Florida, beat Texas at Texas, and beat Kentucky at Kentucky (sorry, Adam). I will admit that I don't expect them to reach the Final Four due to their lack of experience at this level, but they should reach the Sweet Sixteen, beyond that it is just gravy! All I can do is to say "GO VOLS!!!" and then break out into the beautiful song that we all know so well, Rocky Top!!

Off to DFW

Well, Jen and I are heading to Fort Worth to have a little vacation. You gotta love frequent flier miles. We will be staying with some of her family and then visiting her extended family and friends.

Personally, I want to go to the stockyards and see what that is all about. Hmmm. . . . it should be interesting! Have a great day!

Don't you think?

Isn't there a law or rule somewhere that states that if it is 70 degrees or higher in February that you automatically get the day off? Hmmm. . . .
